Australian KA2 competitors have a confirmed equipment change to plan for in 2027. Karting Australia announced on 21 September that the Vortex SV will replace the Vortex DVS-Junior after a decade of use in the category.

The governing body describes the incoming engine as a 125cc water-cooled unit with electric start. It also says the SV will be eligible for TaG 125 and Restricted TaG 125, giving the announcement significance beyond a single junior class.

Karting Australia expects retail availability in late 2026 and says current KA2 competitors will have access to special pricing and trade-in opportunities through OTK Kart Australia. The announcement does not publish those prices.

For families, the immediate task is to obtain the applicable package details before deciding what to buy or sell. Ask what is included, what additional parts are needed, when supply is expected and how any trade-in is assessed. Those answers determine the practical cost of changing equipment.

The wider class eligibility is also worth discussing with the driver's team or retailer when planning the next stage of competition. It should not be treated as a substitute for the relevant class rules.

The direction for KA2 is clear; purchase decisions can now be organised around confirmed specifications and terms as they become available.
