Detailed guide

Kart racing in central Bangu

In the 1960s, the square outside the Church of São Sebastião e Santa Cecília formed the centre of a temporary street circuit. Newspapers called it Praça da Matriz; it is now Praça da Fé.

Neighbourhood races

A 1966 race formed part of a programme to popularise karting, and a later report said a meeting at the same location drew more than 10,000 people.

1968 Hugo Nogueira race

The district administration and Associação Clube da Guanabara announced another race for 17 March 1968, extending into adjoining streets. Results, distance and the exact road list remain unknown.

Temporary venue

This was neither a permanent circuit nor rental attraction. The streets returned to normal use, and the marker shows only the known centre of the vanished route.
