About Amigo Karting

Amigo Karting (Complexe Récréatif Amigo) is the premier outdoor racing destination for the National Capital Region. Located on Boulevard Maloney Est in Gatineau—just 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa—this facility offers an adrenaline-fueled escape from the city. It is famous for its massive track configurations and its signature "NASCAR" curve, a banked turn that allows drivers to carry serious speed. Unlike indoor tracks confined by walls, Amigo offers wide, sweeping asphalt lanes and a true motorsport atmosphere. With a fleet ranging from beginner karts to high-performance Super-Karts, plus on-site mini-golf and trampolines, it is the ultimate summer playground for thrill-seekers and families alike.

Detailed guide

The Track Layouts

Amigo Karting features a versatile layout that can be split or combined.

  • The Mega Track: By combining the two circuits, the track stretches to over 1 kilometer in length. This configuration is often used for the faster Super-Karts, offering long straights and technical sections.
  • The "NASCAR" Curve: The track's defining feature is a banked turn that mimics professional oval racing, allowing for thrilling high-speed cornering that flat tracks simply can't match.
  • Surface: The 100% asphalt surface provides excellent grip and is wide enough (4 karts wide in spots) to allow for clean, safe overtaking.

The Karts

The venue offers a tiered fleet to suit every driver's experience level.

  • Super-Karts (16+): For the serious driver. These high-performance karts are significantly faster than standard rentals, offering aggressive acceleration and higher top speeds (~75kph). You must be 16 or older to drive them.
  • Standard Go-Karts (12+): Perfect for casual racing. These karts (~40kph) are zippy and fun, ideal for teenagers and adults looking for friendly competition.
  • Mini-Karts (8-12): Designed for younger drivers. These are safe, speed-controlled karts that give kids their first taste of independence on the track.
  • Double Karts: An adult (12+) can drive while a younger passenger rides along. This is a great way to include children who aren't old enough to drive the Mini-Karts yet.

Facilities & Amusement

The "Complexe Récréatif" lives up to its name with plenty of non-racing activities:

  • Wacky Putt: An outdoor mini-golf course with fun, colorful obstacles.
  • Trampolines: A "Jump High" zone with bungees and trampolines for kids.
  • Amenities: Large picnic areas and a snack bar make it easy to spend a full afternoon here.
