About SH Karting
SH Karting is a holy grail for Canadian motorsport fans. Located in Mont-Saint-Hilaire (Saint-Charles-sur-Richelieu), just 30 minutes from Montreal, this is one of the few tracks in the world that can claim to be the training ground for F1 legends like Jacques Villeneuve and Lance Stroll. But its history isn't the only thing that makes it special—SH Karting is one of the only facilities in North America to offer outdoor winter karting. When the snow falls, the action doesn't stop; the karts are fitted with specialized studded tires, turning the 1.1km circuit into a high-speed drift arena. Whether you are chasing lap times on the summer asphalt or sliding sideways in January, SH Karting delivers a pure, authentic racing experience 365 days a year.

The Track Layout
The "SH Karting GP" track is a serious test of driving ability.
- Scale: Measuring approximately 1,100 meters, it is a full-sized competition circuit featuring two long straights and a technical infield section.
- Lighting: The track is fully lit, allowing for atmospheric night racing during hot summer evenings or dark winter nights.
- Conditions: Because it is outdoors, the track surface evolves. In summer, it’s high-grip asphalt. In winter, it becomes a snow-packed rally stage that requires smooth throttle control and counter-steering skills.
The Karts
As the exclusive Canadian distributor for Sodikart, SH Karting maintains a fleet of the world’s best rental machines.
- Adult Pro Karts (Sodi Gas): Powerful 4-stroke karts capable of speeds up to 75-80 kph. These feature adjustable pedals and seats to ensure a perfect driving position for adults (Ages 14+).
- Junior Karts: Smaller, restricted chassis designed for drivers aged 7-13 (min height approx. 48" or 122cm). These allow kids to learn proper racing lines on the same track as the adults.
- Winter Fleet: During the cold months, the karts are equipped with studded tires and modified guards to protect against snow spray.
Winter Karting (The "Ice" Experience)
This is the venue's standout feature.
- Drifting: The studded tires provide surprisingly high grip, but the driving style is completely different. It focuses on car control, "Scandinavian flicks," and managing oversteer.
- Gear: You must dress for the weather (snow pants, winter jackets, gloves). The engines generate heat, but the wind chill at 60kph is real!
Competition & Events
- Sodi World Series (SWS): SH Karting hosts official SWS rental league races, allowing amateur drivers to earn points for the global rankings.
- Academy: For those wanting to move beyond rentals, they offer a racing academy to help drivers transition into owning their own 2-stroke competition karts.
