SH Karting FAQs

Venue-specific questions and answers for this circuit.

Yes! SH Karting operates 12 months a year. In the winter, the track is cleared of deep snow, and the karts are fitted with metal-studded tires that bite into the ice and hard-packed snow. It is a unique "rally-style" experience.

The Adult gas karts can reach speeds of approximately 75-80 kph (50 mph) on the main straights in summer conditions. In winter, top speeds are slightly lower due to the rolling resistance of snow, but the sensation of speed is intense due to the sliding.

Junior drivers can race starting at 7 years old (minimum height 48"/122cm). To drive the Adult "Pro" karts, you typically need to be at least 14 years old and meet the height requirement (54"/137cm).

Yes. SH Karting is historically significant as a development track for many top Quebec racers, including F1 Champion Jacques Villeneuve, Patrick Carpentier, and Lance Stroll, who all honed their skills at this facility.

Yes. For winter karting, you must dress warmly. Ski suits, winter gloves, and boots are highly recommended. The track provides the helmet, but you should bring a balaclava (or buy one on-site) to keep your face warm.

Yes. The studded tires provide much more grip than you might expect, and the snowbanks act as soft barriers if you slide off the track. The speeds are naturally self-regulated by the slippery surface.

Yes, you are welcome to use your own full-face DOT/Snell-approved helmet. If you don't have one, the venue provides sanitized helmets included in the rental price.

Reservations are highly recommended, especially for winter slots and summer weekends, as they are very popular. You can book your heats online to guarantee your spot.
