Strathmore Motorsports Park
About Strathmore Motorsports Park
Located just 30 minutes east of Calgary, Alberta, Strathmore Motorsports Park is the beating heart of Western Canada’s grassroots karting scene. Completely shunning the commercialized, indoor "rental kart" business model, this 1.22-kilometre outdoor tarmac circuit is built by racers, for racers. Owned and operated by the non-profit Calgary Kart Racing Club (CKRC) since 2015, it is a dedicated, high-performance proving ground. Whether you are tuning a blistering 125cc shifter kart for the North of 49 Karting Championships, dragging a knee on a mini moto, or taking your very first laps in the structured Try-A-Kart program, it delivers pure, unadulterated competitive motorsport without the gimmicks.

The Racing Experience
- The Track: A meticulously maintained 1.22-kilometre outdoor asphalt sprint circuit boasting a professional 9-metre width. The layout is highly demanding, featuring 14 distinct turns, 10 metres of elevation change, and the unique ability to be run in both clockwise and counter-clockwise configurations.
- The Karts (Bring Your Own): Because there is no standard hire fleet, the paddock is filled with true racing machines.
- Owner-Drivers: You will see everything from 4-stroke Briggs & Stratton setups to blistering 125cc Rotax and Shifter karts hitting speeds that heavy indoor electric karts could never achieve.
- Kid Karts: The club is heavily focused on the next generation, hosting dedicated classes and practice sessions for children as young as 5 years old to safely learn their racecraft.
The Facilities & Extra Attractions
- The Grassroots Paddock: This is a pure racing environment. Instead of indoor arcades and luxury bars, you get excellent spectator sightlines, a massive pre-grid area, and expansive paddock space designed to accommodate trailers, RVs, and mechanic awnings.
- Mini Road Racing: Strathmore isn't just for four wheels. The track is also the home circuit for the Alberta Mini Road Racing Association (AMRA), hosting highly competitive mini moto and lightweight motorcycle track days.
- Championship Weekends: Even if you don't drive, it is a brilliant place to spectate. The venue regularly hosts massive summer race weekends that draw the fastest drivers from across Western Canada.
