A two-kilometre outdoor track in Wasaga Beach

Wasaga 500 has operated as a family business since 1960. Its current karting page describes a recently surfaced, high-banked Le Mans-style course with full lighting for evening running.

Karting is sold by laps rather than as unlimited admission. One two-kilometre lap takes about three minutes, so compare the current one-, seven- and 12-lap options with the time available for the visit.

Karts and driver access

• Solo minimum: a child must be at least ten years old and 54 inches tall to drive independently.
• Younger passengers: children aged nine and under can ride free with a paying adult in a side-by-side two-seater.
• Lower-speed karts: four restricted-speed karts are available for children and inexperienced drivers.
• Fleet and pace: the operator advertises 50 karts and current track speeds up to 40km/h.

Safety and other attractions

Single-seat Wildcat and two-seat Jaguar karts use Honda engines and remote safety-control equipment. The site also has two Harris miniature-golf courses, nine baseball and softball batting cages and a snack bar, each with separate pricing or package terms.

• Check outdoor conditions: confirm the track is running if weather could affect the planned visit.
• Bring the right payment: the official karting page currently labels the 12-lap package as cash only and states that there is no on-site ATM.
• Follow track rules: long hair must be tied back, and bumping, cutting off, reckless driving and driving on the grass are prohibited.
