Podiums, heat victories and fastest laps at Athboy have provided a clear snapshot of the female talent competing across Irish karting's age groups this season.
Motorsport Ireland's report, published on 3 September, looks back at Event 9 of the national championship. Its event calendar places the Athboy meeting on 23 August: this is a reflection on that round, rather than a new October race result.
Results across the classes
Makayla Harte secured her first X30 Senior podium with second place and the fastest lap in the final. Sophie Campbell finished third in X30 Junior, while Ayda O'Brien took third in the IAME Cadet final after winning the second heat.
The report also highlights Saoirse McMahon's fifth place in the T4 Junior final and a fastest lap in the opening heat. Participation extended from Bambino competitors through to the senior categories.
Together, the results make a stronger story than a simple attendance count. They show drivers competing for positions and setting the pace at different points in the same programme.
For anyone discovering the sport through those performances, watching a local meeting can help explain the differences between classes and race formats. Motorsport Ireland's current karting information and event listings are the starting points for finding the appropriate route into competition.
