Race head-to-head at County Galway's leading kart tracks.

County Galway is home to two of the most distinct karting experiences in Ireland. In the city, you have a high-grip indoor track perfect for wet weather and evening racing. Travel 40 minutes east to Tynagh, however, and you will find a karting mecca: a massive 1.5km outdoor circuit that attracts petrolheads from all over the country.

The heavyweight champion of Galway motorsport is Pallas Karting (Tynagh). Located near Loughrea, this venue is famous for its scale. It features a 1,500m outdoor circuit which they claim is the longest in Europe. The track is wide, fast (speeds of up to 85kph), and runs a fleet of twin-engine petrol karts. It also features a separate 500m Junior Track, meaning families and stag groups can race simultaneously without getting in each other's way. In the city itself, Galway City Karting (Liosban Industrial Estate) offers a sharp, technical challenge. Located just off the Tuam Road, this indoor tarmac track is ideal for those who don't want to travel into the countryside. Despite the trend toward electric, this venue continues to run 200cc Honda petrol karts, ensuring you still get the roar of the engine and the smell of rubber. It is a top choice for students, parties, and rainy days in the city.

Go karting in County Galway - FAQs

Common questions about finding a race in County Galway.

Pallas Karting claims to be the longest karting track in Europe with a 1,500m lap length. While some tracks (like Teesside in the UK) are longer (2.1km), Pallas is certainly the longest dedicated kart track in the Republic of Ireland by a significant margin.

Pallas Karting is located in Tynagh, near Loughrea. It is approximately a 45-minute to 1-hour drive east of Galway City via the M6 and N65.

Galway City Karting operates a fleet of 200cc Honda petrol karts (Sodi chassis). They have not switched to electric, maintaining the traditional "petrolhead" experience indoors.

Both are excellent but cater to different ages. Pallas has a dedicated 500m Junior Track for kids aged 10+ (min height 135cm). Galway City Karting offers Junior Karts for kids aged 7+ (min height 125cm approx), making it slightly more accessible for younger children.
