Detailed guide
A 630-metre owner-driver circuit
KartSport Nelson operates Cartridge Universe Kart Raceway as a competition and practice facility rather than a conventional daily hire-kart attraction. The official track description lists eight principal corners, a high-speed chicane and two main straights.
Club points rounds, night meetings, fun days and major South Island events use a published calendar. Member practice is normally available on specified Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, subject to club activity.
Have A Go, membership and licences
- Have A Go: newcomers aged roughly six to 66 can arrange an introductory drive through High Rev Motorsport or Tasman Karts.
- Member practice: regular access is for members, while visitors from other clubs need a current KartSport New Zealand licence.
- Race entry: club and major events require the correct membership, licence and event registration.
- Class selection: age and combined kart-and-driver weight determine the appropriate junior or senior class.
Required safety equipment
Competition drivers need an approved full-face helmet with visor, compliant race suit, rib protector, gloves and enclosed footwear. The club publishes detailed equipment standards, so an ordinary road helmet or casual clothing should not be assumed acceptable.
Before you visit
- Check the calendar: this is scheduled club motorsport, not unrestricted arrive-and-drive rental karting.
- Arrange an introduction: contact a listed kart shop before expecting to use a Have A Go kart.
- Confirm credentials: visitor practice and racing have different licence and membership rules.
- Use current contacts: call +64 27 231 9224 or email events@kartsportnelson.co.nz for 208 Moutere Highway.
