The heavyweight choice for the county is TeamSport Stockton. Located on the Portrack Lane industrial estate (which sits on the Durham side of the River Tees), this venue offers a 500m multi-level track. Unlike many modern TeamSport venues that have switched to electric, Stockton retains a fleet of 200cc petrol karts, keeping the traditional sounds and smells of motorsport alive for purists.
In Durham City itself, TopGear Karting (Gilesgate) provides a convenient local option. It is a classic indoor track located just a mile from the city centre, offering a tighter, technical challenge that is popular for children's parties and casual evening racing.
Note: For those willing to cross the border for outdoor thrills, residents are spoilt for choice: the 1,200m Warden Law circuit is just minutes north of the county line, while the world's longest rental track, Teesside Karting, sits just across the river in Middlesbrough.
