Feel the adrenaline rush at Edinburgh & Fife's top karting venues.

Central Scotland East offers a tale of two driving experiences. In the city, the focus is on high-tech modernization, with Edinburgh boasting one of the country's most advanced electric indoor tracks. Cross the Forth Bridge into Fife, and the vibe shifts to traditional motorsport, home to Scotland's national racing circuit and outdoor petrol thrills.

For those in Edinburgh, the primary destination is Xtreme Karting in Newbridge. Recently upgraded to a multi-level layout, this track has switched to a fleet of high-performance Rimo Electric Karts. These offer instant torque and a "Boost" button for overtaking, making it a cutting-edge experience for adults and teens (ages 12+). Just 20 minutes west, Xtreme Karting Falkirk offers a different flavor. It retains a classic petrol-powered fleet (Rimo EVO 6), appealing to drivers who still want the roar of an engine indoors. It features a unique track layout with a flyover and underpass, and unlike its Edinburgh sister, it caters to junior drivers from age 8, making it the better option for families with younger kids. Crossing into Fife, the headline attraction is Knockhill Karting (near Dunfermline). Situated at Scotland's National Motorsport Centre, this 500m outdoor track runs a fleet of Sodi SR5 Karts powered by LPG (Autogas). This fuel choice keeps the emissions cleaner while maintaining the 50mph performance of a combustion engine. It is a wide, flowing circuit that feels like a miniature Grand Prix track. Note on Fife Closures: Residents should be aware that Kartstart Kirkcaldy and Raceland (Tranent) have permanently closed. Knockhill is now the primary venue for the Fife region.

No. Kartstart Kirkcaldy has permanently closed. The nearest commercial track for residents in Kirkcaldy is now Knockhill Racing Circuit (Outdoor) or Xtreme Karting Edinburgh (Indoor).

Yes. Knockhill has "Cadet" karts for children aged 8-11 (min height 127cm) and "Pro" karts for ages 12+ (min height 157cm). They also offer tandem (2-seater) karts for younger children to ride as passengers.
