Indoor and outdoor karting excitement in North East Scotland.

The North East offers a fantastic variety of driving experiences, from the Granite City to the banks of the River Tay. Unlike the Central Belt where the big chains dominate, this region is home to several high-quality independent outdoor tracks that make the most of the Aberdeenshire countryside.

In Aberdeen, the primary destination for indoor racing is Fast Lane Indoor Raceways (Bridge of Don). It remains a haven for petrolheads, running a fleet of 200cc petrol karts on a technical indoor circuit. This offers a raw, noisy alternative to the electric trend seen elsewhere. Note: Residents may remember Kartstart Aberdeen (Stoneywood), but this venue is currently marked as closed awaiting redevelopment. In Dundee, the major venue is TeamSport Dundee (formerly ScotKart). Located just off the Kingsway, this 400m indoor track has recently been upgraded to a fully electric fleet. The electric karts offer incredible acceleration (torque) and a cleaner racing environment, making it the top choice for families and mixed groups in the city. Head out into Aberdeenshire, and you will find some of the best outdoor tracks in the country:
  • Lochter Activity Centre (Inverurie): Features the "Lochterstone" track, a fast outdoor circuit modelled on Silverstone. It runs unrestricted races where drivers can hit speeds of 40mph+.
  • Deeside Activity Park (Aboyne): Situated in Royal Deeside, this venue offers a 375m asphalt track known for its smooth surface and scenic backdrop.
  • Grampian Kart Club (Boyndie/Banff): A serious 850m outdoor circuit that hosts championships. While primarily a club track, they offer specific rental days for the public (ages 15+)—this is the closest you will get to pro racing in the region.
  • Smart Kart Raceway (Elgin/Lhanbryde): Technically in Moray but serving the North East, this outdoor track is a local favourite for its floodlit evening racing and "Arrive & Drive" accessibility.
