The headline act in Reading is TeamSport Reading (located on the A33). This venue has fully embraced the future with a fleet of high-torque electric karts. These machines are faster off the line than their petrol ancestors and run on a clean, fume-free multi-level track. Unique to this venue is the "Combat Karts" experience—an augmented reality race where you drive a real kart but use virtual power-ups (like turbos and shields) projected onto the track, effectively playing a video game in real life.
In stark contrast, Absolutely Karting Maidenhead (often referred to locally as the Slough track due to its proximity) keeps the old school alive. It operates a fleet of 270cc Honda petrol karts on a dual-level indoor circuit. This is the track for purists who want to manage revs and feel the engine vibration. It is also famous for being the UK's home of "Glow Karting," where the track lights are killed and the circuit is illuminated by UV neon and lasers for a party atmosphere.
Note on Outdoor Racing: There are no permanent outdoor rental tracks inside the Berkshire county lines. For 1,000m+ outdoor thrills, residents usually travel to Daytona Sandown Park (Surrey) or Thruxton Kart Centre (Hampshire), both of which are accessible via the M4/M3 corridors.

There is no track in Slough town centre. The "Slough" track referred to by locals is Absolutely Karting Maidenhead, which is located just 10-15 minutes away on Stafferton Way (Maidenhead). It is the primary petrol track for the Slough/Windsor area.
Available at TeamSport Reading, Combat Karts is a unique mix of karting and gaming. You drive a real electric kart on the track, but the race is governed by virtual items (boosts, bombs, shields) that you collect by driving over projected graphics. If you get "hit," your kart physically slows down.
Since there are no outdoor tracks in Berkshire, the best nearby options are Thruxton Kart Centre (approx. 45 mins west) or Daytona Sandown Park (approx. 45 mins east). Both offer high-speed outdoor racing on championship-grade tarmac.
