About Buttonwillow Kart Track

Buttonwillow Kart Track is a critical piece of the 500-acre Buttonwillow Raceway Park, one of the premier road racing facilities in the United States. While the main "Classic" and new "Circuit" tracks host massive car events like Global Time Attack, the 0.69-mile kart track offers an equally challenging layout for smaller machinery. Known for its technical corners and curb-hopping layout, it allows drivers to experience the same "flow" as the big track but in a more visceral, open-wheel package.

The Racing Experience

  • Rentals (SoCal Karts): The "Arrive & Drive" program here is high-intensity. Vendors like SoCal Karts offer 4-stroke race karts (Kid, Cadet, and Adult) that bridge the gap between amusement karts and ownership. Packages often start at $100 for an hour, allowing for serious seat time rather than quick sprints.
  • Owner Practice: The track is a hub for kart owners. Practice days are frequently available when the track is not rented for private events. It attracts everything from LO206 karts to 125cc shifters capable of 90+ mph.
  • Layout: The 0.69-mile course is highly configurable. It features a mix of tight hairpins and medium-speed sweepers that require precise braking and throttle control, mimicking the complexity of the facility's full-sized road courses.

Facilities

  • Tower Café: Located in the main tower of the raceway, this cafe serves breakfast and lunch (typically open until 2:00 PM), offering a convenient refueling stop for racers.
  • RV & Camping: For multi-day events, the facility offers RV hookups with water and electricity (approx. $40–$50/day), making it easy to turn a race weekend into a camping trip.
  • Tire Center: A full-service tire center is located on-site, primarily for cars, but a helpful resource for general paddock needs.
